Maddison support clients to build the business case for a technology or product by understanding the user needs, market requirements, competitive landscape and commercial factors. This can involve workshops, in-depth market research, industry research, development research, identifying and interviewing key opinion leaders, IP landscapes and technology scouting. We have considerable experience working with the NHS, private healthcare institutions, pharmaceuticals, corporates and technology specialists. Working with partner companies we provide technology guidance covering electronics, software, physics, mechanics, materials and manufacturing processes as well as regulatory advice and IP strategy.
Usability Engineering – User Research
As a user-centred product development company, we ensure the user is at the centre of our design process. We conduct considerable user research early in the process using a variety of tools including contextual interviews, story boarding, ethnography, stakeholder analysis, focus groups and workflow analysis. Whenever we can, we use early prototypes to review with users to gain valuable feedback quickly to inform the design. For medical device development, we follow the IEC 62366 usability engineering standard to plan user research, gather user requirements, assess risk areas and conduct formative and summative evaluations to build into the technical file for CE and FDA approval.
