Vent-Axia were taking a fundamental re-look at their heat exchange range and asked Maddison to design a device to cover an entire house from a single retrofitted unit. Challenges were filter replacement and ease of installation.
Working with our client, we took a completely fresh approach and came up with a ‘whole house’ solution that dramatically simplified installation and improved serviceability. A key part of the Maddison design was new swivelling inlets / outlets which minimised air impedance and permitted passive airflow, improving efficiency and reducing noise. We combined this with a striking aesthetic, adjustability and easy-to-use features. The project was awarded the Horner’s Prize for Plastic.
