SAW-Dx

SAW-Dx is built on unique acoustic-flow technology developed at the University of Glasgow’s School of Engineering. Samples of patients’ blood, swabs or urine are placed on a disposable chip. The interaction between the sound waves and the chip enables the release of DNA and its amplification, potentially enabling test results in as little as 15 minutes.

Novartis

The challenge was to develop a point of care system for rapid diagnosis of thyroid dysfunction using whole blood. Maddison was selected as the development partner for both the reader and disposable cartridge – which used the clients core piezoelectric film technology. The system had to be quick, reliable, portable and easy to use.

Maddison worked the contract manufacturer, ITL, to develop the reader mechanics. We developed a manufacturing solution for the disposable cartridge ensuring repeatability and low unit cost. We also designed the graphical user interface so that it could be used intuitively by a range of people from experts to occasional users. Read more here

Randox

The Randox Evidence Investigator is a compact, semi-automated benchtop analyser that offers efficient and comprehensive testing across a range of applications including clinical diagnostics, molecular, research, toxicology and food diagnostics.

It can consolidate both immunoassay and molecular testing achieved through protein and DNA based biochips improving laboratory efficiency and reducing costs.
