Industrial design was born in the 1930's in Germany when architects were brought into industrial companies to help increase sales. They did this by introducing design and aesthetics into consumer products.
At Maddison we look to create solutions that are an elegant integration of design, engineering and usability that create value to the user. This could be summarised as a 'form follows function' approach.
Maddison's guiding principle has consistently been to develop solutions that are financially feasible, technically viable and highly desirable. Our iconic design of the Parker Reflex is now over 20 years old but its longevity demonstrates our track record of Industrial Design. At Maddison, we focus on producing aesthetically pleasing and enduring designs that contribute to our clients' revenue.
We could talk about our industrial design credentials or track record until we are blue in the face. Instead, we invite you to look at the work examples below. (These are just a few among many.)
The image to the right is the Novartis point-of-care system for diagnosing thyroid dysfunction. As well as developing the mechanical solutions Maddison created the Industrial design language.
Phagenyx is a Dysphagia therapy treatment device. Maddison was brought in due to our expertise in industrial design, mechanical design, and user interface development. The brief was to create a practical design suitable for hospitals, clinics, and care homes, but with looks reflecting the advanced technology.
The Industrial design and user interface of Genomtec was developed in collaboration with Maddison, adding seamless functionality and aesthetic appeal to this exceptional platform.
Maddison helped Callaly achieve the optimal shape for the Tampliner (Image above) ensuring the Tampliner is effective and comfortable. Through careful selection of materials and the creation of a virtual applicator shape. The collaborative effort resulted in a tampon that can be easily removed and offers a discreet fit while in use. This breakthrough brings a new level of comfort to women's menstrual care routines.
Maddison undertook the task of reimagining Creavo's Corsens®, a system to facilitate rapid assessment of patients presenting with acute coronary symptoms in the emergency department. Our goal was to enhance the previous working prototype making it lighter, faster, safer, user-friendly and visually attractive.
Maddison’s re-think of the domestic extractor fan created an attractive modern looking design, combined with an engineered solution to reduce noise. The design continues to be a market leader. It has won numerous awards, including a ‘Red Dot’ design award.
Nelsons Clikpak™ has received several design accolades including the Design Business Associations award for commercial effectiveness.
